Today’s SMH comes from Maryland where Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni decided to have some fun and impersonate a police officer. While playing the role, Mastrogiovanni got himself into trouble when he pulled over an off-duty police over!
Mastrogiovanni eventually realized he had pulled over a real police officer who happened to be off duty. Mastrogiovanni continued playing his ‘officer character’ and claimed to be a military officer from Louisiana. He also told the officer he was speeding.
The off-duty officer went on and told Mastrogiovanni he was “outside his jurisdiction and that his blue and red lights were illegal.” Mastrogiovanni fled the scene, but it was too late. The officer had already called the Prince George’s County police. He followed Mastrogiovanni until the officers arrived.
Mastrogiovanni was charged with impersonating a police officer. He was later released on personal recognizance.
Next time you’re about to impersonate a police officer, make sure you don’t pull over someone who actually has the authority to arrest you!
