Horse meat has been found in burgers sold by Britain’s leading supermarkets.
Traces of the the meat have been detected beef products sold by Iceland and Tesco in Britain and Ireland.
I’m horrified that I have potentially eaten horse meat and not know it despite the burgers being tasty.
Most cases only small traces horse DNA was found but in one Tesco burger a third of it was horse meat.
This information has come from analysis by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and food safety officials in Britain confirmed they will be investigating.
Tesco have now removed the all products from the supplier in question and have apologised for the distress caused to customers.
It isn’t our culture to eat horse meat in the UK so it is unacceptable to find it our delicious burgers.
The FSAI also found pig in products that are supposed to be 100% beef.
