This weekend was a special one as it marked the 86th Annual Academy Awards.

The night was also extra special as Alfonso Cuarón won the Oscar for best director and became the first Mexican ever to win this honor. Cuarón directed Gravity starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

The film won a total of seven awards including, best screenplay, visual effects, sound editing, cinematography, sound mixing and original score. Cuarón thanked many in his speech including Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, but had special words which he spoke in Spanish to his closest loved ones.
