There have been many speculations about the plane crash that took Jenni Rivera’s life. So here’s what we know about the plane, it was 43-years-old and the company that owned the Learjet 25 may be mixed up with the law.
There is an ongoing investigation to figure out exactly how the plane crashed. The DEA is looking into ex-convict, Christian Esquino, who is believed to be head of the company that owned the jet. Esquino served only five months after being sentenced to five years for pleading guilty in a drug investigation. Esquino pled guilty of conspiring to conceal money from the IRS.
Speculations have been brought up connecting the drug cartel Zetas to Rivera’s death. The speculations predict that Rivera clashed with the Mexican criminal organization after she refused to launder illicit money.
Another theory was that the 78 year-old pilot suffered a heart attack, and the young inexperience co-pilot wasn’t able to handle the situation.
Another rumor was that the plane carried a bomb which exploded in mid air but that rumor was ruled out by investigators.
There has been no hard evidence to prove any theory. The investigation is still ongoing.
Rivera’s brother, Juan Rivera, has chosen to stay positive about the whole situation. He actually wishes for the conspiracies and speculations to stop. He prefers fans to say Jenni graduated to a new life, rather than she died.
“We have appreciated all your prayers and expressions of solidarity, just ask them to stop and say that my sister died, she just graduated to a better life,” Juan said. “[fans should] celebrate the life God gave us next to Jenni. Want to celebrate all the success they had.”
