Selena is here to stay and her beloved fans are making sure they keep her memory and star in the limelight. After all, she gave them so much, and left a legacy that will surely remain for years to come. Here are just a few of the things that have evolved from petitions on Change.org…all initiated by beloved fans. They include a petition to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, to MAC Cosmetics and for a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame--all which have come to fruition. On August 31st, Selena’s statue was unveiled at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Selena’s entire family was there to bestow the honor as the incredibly realistic Selena wax figure was unveiled and to them and her many fans.
RedAlertLive was there for the festivities. What an evening it was…Seeing all her fans, Selena lookalikes, and getting to see Selena as she once was. You could feel the love and magic all around as the sun was setting behind the wax figure that was soon to be placed inside the Museum near Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
We also got a chance to go behind the scenes--speaking with Selena’s family and former husband, Chris Perez, her brother A.B. Quintanilla and others. The thing we took away was the love they had for Selena as well as how surreal it was for them to see their beloved Selena once more. The wax figure was so lifelike they wanted to reach out as they had done so many times…telling Selena, hey…let’s go. Yes, it was a beautiful and memorable evening, but you could also see it was an emotional one as it stirred up memories as if it was yesterday.
See more photos on our Facebook.com/RedAlertLive page. We hope will take you front and center to that special summer day. And today another honor will be bestowed on our beloved Selena. MAC Cosmetics has announced its “World Premiere” of the “MAC Selena Makeup Collection” debuting September 30th at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas--with entertainment, interactive social media screens, DJs, guest performer and a special presentation by the Quintanilla family. Suzette, Selena’s older sister, is specially excited because she helped create the collection and will see Selena’s dream of having her own makeup line become a reality. Keep in mind this is a limited edition scheduled to run until November 17th so be sure you check out this collection as soon as you can.

Selena’s star will continue to shine bright for all to see as The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has recently announced that Selena will be part of the 2017 Walk of Fame Class and where she will be posthumously honored as one of 34 public figures to receive a star…including actress, Eva Longoria—another Latina from Corpus Christi, Texas. Eva Longoria attributes her star to Selena--thanking her “because she dared to dream it first.” A lot has been said about Selena Quintanilla, but some words that say it all. Selena is remembered for so many things--her great music and for paving the road for others. She was an amazing artist who was beautiful not just on the outside but also inside who constantly gave of herself--always making a difference--who was known for her positivity and kindness. She is a cultural icon—who was proud of her roots and worked hard and achieved her goals. And importantly, she was nice to everyone she met regardless of their station in life. Her father says this about Selena: “Her fans viewed her as a positive, humble person and I've always believed that in Selena's case it was not just the music but the person who made an impact.”
Yes, musical artists come and go, but Selena will continue to live on in the lives and hearts of fans (past and present) and all those who loved her. And she will continue to be a role model for people as time passes by. Make sure to stay tuned as we'll be posting LIVE videos from the #MACSelena Launch!
